ICE Super 16 for Bigelow's Hurt Locker11 Sep 2009 Barry Ackroyd, Cinematographer of Looking for Eric and Gideons Daughter, took four of ICEs Super 16 cameras to Jordan to film Kathryn Bigelows new Iraq War film The Hurt Locker. He has won ten awards including a BAFTA for Best cinematography. The experienced camera team, struggled through tough, hot, physical conditions, but their Aaton Xteras and Minima kept running throughout.
"It was low budget and we wanted a documentary feel to it, these cameras are small enough to be hand-held and still come with a good range of Canon zoom and wide angle lenses for choice in the different shots" Ackroyd says, "It was hot, very hot, dusty and dirty but the cameras held-up throughout the whole shoot. Even when I did have a little accident with one of them, it kept running on fine, they are extremely sturdy and excellent for the conditions we were in".
On finishing ‘The Hurt Locker', Barry moved straight onto Paul Greengrass' ‘The Green Zone' and since has finished filming ‘The Special Relationship' for HBO and NBC.
